ABOUT HAINAULT @ CARMEL
Nestled among the forested slopes of Carmel, Hainault is a winery shaped by the natural beauty and relaxed rhythm of the Perth Hills. Here, time slows down, the air feels fresher, and every glass of wine is a reminder of the landscape it comes from.
More than just a winery, Hainault is a welcoming destination where locals and visitors alike can connect, unwind, and share memorable moments.
At the heart of the experience is our cellar door, where guests are invited to taste our handcrafted wines and enjoy them alongside generous, shareable platters. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon for two, a catch-up with friends, or a long lunch in the hills, Hainault offers a warm and relaxed setting that captures the essence of Perth Hills hospitality. With hillside views and rustic charm, it’s a place that feels both special and familiar. And soon, our on-site restaurant will add another layer to the experience—bringing fresh, seasonal food to the table in the heart of Carmel.
The Hainault name carries a proud history from its beginnings elsewhere in the Perth Hills, and today at Carmel it continues that story with a new chapter. Rooted in tradition but refreshed with a modern outlook, we remain dedicated to creating a place where wine, food, and community come together. At Hainault, every visit is about more than what’s in the glass—it’s about being part of something local, welcoming, and enduring.
THE TALE OF
HARRY OF HAINAULT
GUARDIAN OF THE VINES
When Hainault made its quiet journey through the hills—leaving behind its old home to settle in a new pocket of paradise—it wasn’t just the wines, the barrels, or the spirit of the place that made the move. Perched among the rafters and ancient trees, always watchful, was Harry: the proud owl who had long kept vigil over the land.
Nobody knows exactly how old Harry is, or where he came from. Some say he was born in the hollow of a marri tree on a foggy morning in early spring.
Others believe he’s as old as the vines themselves.
What we do know is this:
Harry has always been there. Watching over the harvest. Greeting the early risers. Blinking slowly from the shadows as music drifts through the trees on a Sunday afternoon.
Harry isn’t just a symbol—he’s part of the soul of Hainault. A quiet guardian. A bearer of stories. A creature of patience, wisdom, and place. So if you spot him tucked into a tree, carved into a barrel, or standing proud on the wine label, don’t be surprised. He’s keeping an eye on things, just as he always has.
